Thank You Volunteers!
Many, many thanks to tournament directors Don and Amelia Gay!
Opening Ceremony - July 19
Teams gathered to enjoy dinner together and participate in fun skills competitions. Screech threw out the ceremonial first pitch to open these games. Retiring state commissioner, Paul Link, tried to catch the pitch. Looks like Screech needs more practice.
Following the team introductions, teams participated together and individually in skills like the Team Throwing Relay, Golden Arm, Road Runners and the all-time favorite Home Run Derby.
Games begin tomorrow at 9 am!
An early rainstorm pushed all games today to Gunston for the first day of pool play.
Arlington Storm played Hendersonville, TN for the last game of the day. It was a nail-biter! Hendersonville took an early lead and kept it until the 5th inning when Storm staged a comeback. Hendersonville tied the game in the top of 7 giving Arlington an opportunity to walk-off a win. And that's exactly what they did! Keegan Donnelly hit the walk-off. Final score -- Arlington 8-7 over Hendersonville.
July 20
Arlington tried to recreate the magic of yesterday, and had a few opportunities, but fell just a little short today. Final score Arlington 5, Christianburg 6. Back at it tomorrow for the last day of pool play.
July 21
Another great win for Arlington over Julington Creek! Arlington will advance to the playoff round tomorrow! GO STORM!
July 22 - Playoff and Championship Games
Congratulations Lutz, Florida Bananas -- the 2023 Southeast Regional champions!
Arlington lost a very close semi-final game to Williamsburg by walkoff, 8-7. This was a fantastic game despite the loss with many great plays and solid hitting.
