The Optimist Club of Arlington is ABR's largest and longest supporter. Their Christmas tree lot, which also includes wreaths, roping pine, pine swags and the annual White House ornament, is their biggest fundraiser. It has been an annual holiday event for generations and has been operating for more than 75 years.
Our biggest need is for ABR volunteers to help staff the lot for the first week. Volunteers will assist in many duties on the lot, including assisting customers to find a tree, trimming trees, loading trees, sweeping the lot, restocking trees, and other miscellaneous tasks. This is an opportunity to volunteer as a family or with teammates - and add to your own holiday joy while help others enjoy the holiday season. Gloves are required, but all other supplies will be provided by the Optimist Club.
We also have a need for volunteers to help with setup of the lot the weekend before opening and to help unload trees when they are delivered to the lot. No special skills are needed for setup or unloading, but there will be some physical requirements in assembling the setup and unloading trees. Volunteer slots are open for a set time, but we would take any amount of time that you'd be able to help for the setup on Nov 22, and potentially for tree unloading on or around Nov 25-26.
Please consider signing up for a shift or two, and inviting your family, friends, teammates to come out and volunteer with you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact ABR's coordinator for the lot, Aaron Peters (coachaaronpeters@gmail.com - 571-217-2495).
